Historians from Korea and Germany are guests of the Reserve

October 23, 2019, the National Historical and Memorial Reserve "Graves of Bykivnia " was attended by participants of the International Workshop "Conflicting Memories of War and Occupation".

The visitors represented various scientific and higher education institutions of Seoul, Berlin, Leipzig, as well as public organizations in Germany and Ukraine. The group was accompanied by Tatiana Pastushenko, senior researcher at the Institute of History of Ukraine, NAS, and Tse-Hyun Lim, professor, director of the Institute for Critical Global Studies, Sogang University (North Korea). Deputy Director for Scientific Work of the National Historical and Memorial Reserve "Graves of Bykivnya" Tetyana Sheptytska gave a guest lecture-excursion on the history and functioning of the former secret plot of the NKVD UkrSSR in the Bykivnia Forest.
Since the Workshop participants specialize in the study of Eastern European history during World War II, the study of the traumatic past, they are most interested in the work of the NKVD archives, the activities of the Reserve, in particular, the peculiarities of communication with repressed families, finding illustrations for the Reserve's projects as well as and prospects of archaeological research in the territory of the special site, etc.

The guests also laid flowers at the mass graves of the International Memorial to the Victims of Totalitarianism of 1937-1941.
