Visit of deputies of the Czech Parliament

On March 5, 2020, a delegation of deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, accompanied by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to Ukraine, Radek Matula and representatives of the Embassy, visited the National Historical and Memorial Reserve "Graves of Bykivnia ".

Director-General of the Reserve Bogdan Bilyashivsky told high-level guests about the history of the creation and operation of a secret NKVD special unit in Bykivnia Forest. Bogdan Bilyashivskyi elaborated on the peculiarities of the implementation in the USSR of the operative order No. 00447 "On repression of former kulaks, criminal offenders and other anti-Soviet elements", the so-called "limits", the activities of judicial and extrajudicial bodies. He paid particular attention to the NKVD's national operations.

Representatives of the delegation laid flowers at the mass graves of the International Memorial to the Victims of Totalitarianism of 1937-1941 and honored the memory of those killed with a memorial bell. In memory of innocent compatriots, Czech deputies tied ribbons in the colors of the Czech flag on Bykivnia pines.
Guests from the Czech Republic also got acquainted with the photo-documentary exhibition "Bloody Field", which is dedicated to Stalin's repression of the Ukrainian peasantry.
