The reserve was visited by a film crew of a Ukrainian-German educational project

On November 12, 2020, representatives of the public organization "German-Ukrainian Forum" ("Deutsch-Ukrainisches Forume") visited the territory of the National Historical and Memorial Reserve "Graves of Bykivnya". The guests from Germany got acquainted with the history of Bykivnya burials, took photos and videos for the Ukrainian-German educational project.

The material will be used in the framework of the international project “Gemeinsam (e) Geschichteerinnern. Deutsch-ukrainische Erinnerungsorte im Dialog "(Let's remember history together. German-Ukrainian places of remembrance in dialogue), which is implemented by the German-Ukrainian Forum in cooperation with I. Franko Zhytomyr State University with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany. Its purpose is to develop and create materials that will help in the implementation of the context of historical memory in the educational process.

Researchers of the Reserve Olga Ozolina and Olena Polidovych told guests from Germany about the history of the creation and operation of a secret NKVD special unit in the Bykivnya Forest, acquainted with photocopies of historical documents and fragments of archival and criminal cases.
